The 2020 VAHSA Parent Ambassadors visited Richmond on January 22 to share their compelling stories with State Delegates and Senators about how Head Start has impacted their lives. They valued the opportunity to meet with State Legislators and shared powerful and inspirational examples of how families partner with Head Start to help prepare their children to be successful both in school, and in life.

The group of parent leaders also spoke with First Lady Pamela Northam and expressed their appreciation and support of the First Lady’s focus on Early Childhood Development. They were especially grateful to be recognized on the House floor by Delegate Elizabeth Guzman. Delegate Guzman, who formerly worked with Greater Mt. Vernon Head Start, also shared her knowledge of the many benefits of this outstanding early childhood program.
The group will be returning with their children to Richmond on February 17 to participate in The Playdate at the Capitol sponsored by Voices for Virginia’s Children.
